craigslist success!

Just wanted to drop a note and show one of my craigslist finds in action. My friend, Kelly is a fabulous photographer and she snatched up one of my recent craigslist finds to use a prop for her photography. How amazing does that yellow trunk look in these pictures? What a great idea!

Freestyle Picking

Have you ever heard of American Pickers? I recently discovered this history channel show and was instantly hooked. A "picker" is someone who digs through old barns and houses searching for unused treasures and "rusty gold." I feel like that could be my job in a second life. Inspired by the show, we headed to Illinois with our friends Jake and Kara to do some antiquing in small towns in Illinois. We were aspiring pickers and desperately wanted to try our hand at some freestyle picking. We were a little too chicken to knock on random doors in the Illinois countryside, so we kept mainly to antique stores and flea markets. We definitely came away with some good finds! Here was my loot for the day.

1. Large woodblock #1, $4
2. Marmalade jar, $3
3. Set of 3 mason jars (all different sizes), $12
4. Gold serving tray, $4
5. Antique feed sack, $6
